Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue took the handoff from Brian Hoyer, made certain to protect the ball with both arms and darted through a crease into the end zone during goal-line drills in this morning’s joint practice with the Washington Redskins.
Blue has become the next man up following a groin injury to Arian Foster that has the starter out for the first eight games of the regular season. Other in-house candidates for the job are rookie Kenny Hilliard, Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk, but Blue is clearly the front-runner to receive the majority of the carries in Foster’s absence.
