When Redskins owner Dan Snyder purchased the team in 1999, his wife, Tanya Snyder, and a group of women from the Zeta Tau Alpha alumni chapter in Northern Virginia, came up with the idea for an outreach program for breast cancer awareness.
Later that year, the THINK PINK! campaign was born, with the Redskins the only team in the NFL participating, as women handed out handmade pink ribbons to fans before a game. Soon enough, the campaign became one of many inspirations from around the league that was instrumental in the NFL's creation of its own "A Crucial Catch" campaign.
