Su'a Cravens just fine at LB, but Donte Whitner struggles

LANDOVER, Md. -- Five observations on the Washington Redskins’ defense after the 42-24 win over the Green Bay Packers:

I know there’s always talk about moving rookie Su’a Cravens to safety, but here’s the thing: He needs to play near the line of scrimmage all the time, allowing him to play downhill. Period. That’s where he makes plays and can impact a game. Just because Donte Whitner struggled, I would not suddenly think Cravens must play strong safety. Remember, he’d need to play deep middle as well, and that’s not his strength.
