Silas Redd has not played a snap for Washington this season, but the second-year running back is facing punishment from the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Washington's official Twitter account posted a statement from an NFL spokesman that confirmed Redd will be suspended without pay for the team's next four games and will begin serving the suspension immediately.
Redd has been on the shelf since August after suffering a torn ACL in Washington's preseason opener. Even though he was not going to play this year due to the injury, his suspension will prevent him from being paid by the team.
