EAST RUTHERFORD – Rookie running back Matt Jones will not play in today’s game against the New York Jets because of a sprained big toe, a person with knowledge of the situation said Sunday morning.
Jones had been listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. This season, Jones has rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns on 54 carries.
He joins a long list of key players that will not play for Washington versus New York.
On Saturday, the team ruled out wide receiver DeSean Jackson with a slowly-healing hamstring injury. On Friday, the team ruled out starting left tackle Trent Williams (concussion), center Kory Lichtensteiger (strained shoulder, broken thumb), cornerback Chris Culliver (knee), cornerback DeAngelo Hall (toe) and tight end Jordan Reed (concussion).
