Rookie Matt Jones’s third fumble this season has terrible timing

Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones picked a bad time to have his third fumble this season. It occurred during the opening drive of the second half, following what was shaping up as a pretty nice drive for the offense down 17-3.

Washington gained 45 yards on its previous four plays before Jones coughed up the ball at the New England 43-yard line. Patriots defensive tackle Alan Branch poked the ball out immediately after the exchange from quarterback Kirk Cousins, and it was recovered by Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich.
