Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was cleared Friday to return to game action, after suffering a concussion last month.

Griffin suffered a concussion in a preseason game on Aug. 20 against the Detroit Lions. His status has since been in flux with multiple colliding signals about his return. In the meantime, Coach Jay Gruden named Kirk Cousins his starting quarterback for 2015.

The Redskins open their season Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Miami Dolphins.
