Against the Miami Dolphins, the Redskins were shorthanded at the running back position. Third-down back Chris Thompson went down with a toe injury during the game and didn’t return. Adrian Peterson carried most of the load for the team with Wendell Smallwood playing a minor role as well.
Thompson has been banged up in the past and he got an MRI on the injury. Evidently, he may need to miss some time as a result of it.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Thompson is dealing with turf toe. And with Thompson’s availability “in some doubt”, the team is working out Josh Ferguson at running back.
