Report: Redskins Sign Tight End Alex Smith

ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday reported that the Redskins are adding 11-year veteran tight end Alex Smith to the roster after Derek Carrier's season-ending injury.

The Washington Redskins are adding a veteran to their tight end group, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday the team is signing Alex Smith.

In a previously reported corresponding move, the team is placing tight end Derek Carrier, who tore his ACL and MCL on Sunday vs. the Bears, on the season-ending IR list.

Smith, 33, is an 11-year veteran who has had previous stints in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints.
