The Washington Redskins will not pay left tackle Trent Williams after placing him on the season-ending non-football injury list on Thursday, according to multiple reports.
Williams could have collected the remaining $5.1 million of his $10.8 million salary while on NFI, but teams have the option to withhold the salary under the league’s collective bargaining agreement. According to ESPN, teams have paid roughly 35 to 40% of the salaries to other players on NFI this season.
The Redskins and Williams have been in a highly public dispute over the last several months, with the left tackle holding out for the first eight games over the season over a dispute with the team’s medical staff and his contract.
