Redskins: Why relying on Colt McCoy as a starting quarterback is a very risky proposition

For the third time in as many years, it’s looking possible that Kirk Cousins is going to leave the Washington Redskins. This time though, it really seems like it’s going to happen. The team can’t realistically afford to tag him again while fielding a competitive team, and signing him long term seems unlikely. With no true succession option in place, the Redskins could end up in trouble.

What’s that? Oh, no. I didn’t forget about Colt McCoy. Don’t get me wrong. McCoy is one of the best backup quarterbacks that football has to offer.
