The Washington Redskins have waived offensive tackle Xavier Nixon as the team officials continue to make room for rookie additions to the roster.
Nixon’s release was listed on Thursday’s league transaction report.
The 6-foot-6, 330-pound Nixon had signed with Washington in February after spending the past two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. Nixon originally signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent out of Florida in 2013, but he didn’t survive final roster cuts.
The Redskins this offseason have worked to upgrade their right tackle position. Last week they drafted Iowa’s Brandon Scherff fifth overall, and this week reached agreements with undrafted free agents Takoby Cofield, of Duke, and Brey Cook, of Arkansas.
