The Washington Redskins announced that they waived linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat on Thursday. He spent two seasons in Washington, appearing in nine games with one career start.
Jeffcoat was an undrafted free agent in 2014 and joined the Redskins after he was cut in training camp by the Seattle Seahawks. The Texas product was surprisingly placed on injured reserve in November, although he wasn’t listed with an injury on the team’s injury report. Redskins Coach Jay Gruden initially explain that Jeffcoat “had back spasms or something like that, so he had an injury settlement.” Gruden later explained the team needed to improve on special teams, which the led to the promotion of linebacker Houston Bates from the practice squad.
