The Washington Redskins waived guard Arie Kouandjio on Tuesday, designating him as injured in hopes of placing him on injured reserve.
Last week, Kouandjio underwent a season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn quadriceps. His recovery time is expected to be six-to-eight months, per multiple reports.
The Redskins drafted Kouandjio in the fourth round of the 2015 draft. He started six games last season, re-joining the team midseason after being waived following training camp.
Kouandjio was projected to compete for the starting job at left guard, but that won’t happen now.
