NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that while the Washington Redskins and Kirk Cousins agent will continue to negotiate, the Redskins will most likely use the Transition tag on Cousins. The NFL deadline for tagging players is March 1st.
So the Redskins and Cousins are running out of time. Many pundits expect the Redskins to use the Franchise tag on Cousins but according to Rapoport that might not be the case. They can still negotiate after March 1st but if the Redskins use the Transition tag then other teams will be able to talk to Cousins.
