Set to have just $21 million in cap space at the start of the new league year, on March 13, the Washington Redskins don’t have a lot of breathing room in free agency. They have the capacity to sign one or two starter-quality players, but after that, they’ll be pressed for even the quaintest coinage.
With that in mind, the Redskins have a number of cut candidates on the roster who, if released, could free up a good deal of cap space. But as much as many would like Washington to be flexible with their cap, Washington has been anything but at the start of the offseason.
