Two weeks after hosting veteran tight end Vernon Davis for a free agent, the Washington Redskins have signed him to a contract, a person familiar with the situation confirmed.
The former San Francisco 49er returns to his hometown, a short ways away from where he played college ball at Maryland. He also reunites with Scot McCloughan, who served as general manager in San Francisco early in Davis’s career with the 49ers.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t immediately available.
CBS Sports first reported news of the signing.
The 32-year-old Davis brings experience and depth, but no longer is the playmaking force that he once was.
