Injury has the Redskins’ tight ends hard, so Washington on Wednesday added one to their practice squad, signing rookie Ray Hamilton.
An undrafted player out of Iowa, where he played alongside Redskins rookie Brandon Scherff, the 6-foot-5, 252-pound Hamilton recorded 29 catches for 305 yards and three touchdowns in four seasons with the Hawkeyes. As a senior, he had 18 receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns.
Washington recently promoted Je’Ron Hamm from the practice squad to the 53-man roster where he joined veterans Jordan Reed and Derek Carrier. However, Carrier tore his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee on Sunday and now is on injured reserve.
