The Redskins made a pair of moves on Tuesday, signing cornerback Mariel Cooper while also releasing wide receiver Andre Roberts after two seasons with the team.
The Washington Redskins have signed college free agent cornerback Mariel Cooper and released veteran wide receiver Andre Roberts.
A product of The Citadel, Cooper was one of 33 tryout players for the Redskins during this past weekend’s rookie minicamp.
Cooper played for The Citadel during the 2015 season, as the Sumter, S.C., native appeared in 12 games with 11 starts, totaling 30 tackles (four for loss), eight passes defensed and an interception, which he hauled in during a 69-0 victory over Davidson in the season opener.
