Every year, teams bring in a bevy of undrafted rookies and younger NFL veterans to test them out during the offseason. With rosters currently maxed out at 90 men, NFL teams have a lot more opportunities to evaluate players and so, throughout the 2019 offseason, they will cycle through many back-end roster candidates in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough.
That’s what the Redskins are doing right now. After their team’s rookie minicamp, they have continued to shape their roster. They signed five players and cut three from their current roster in order to take a look at the new players.
