LANDOVER — For the second consecutive week, the Washington Redskins will be missing a running back from their dynamic trio.
Third-down back Chris Thompson is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a lower back injury he sustained against the New York Jets last week.
Against the Jets, running back Matt Jones was inactive because of a toe sprain and is active this week against the Buccaneers. Without Thompson in the lineup, Jones is expected to see most of the work on third down.
The other six inactive players for the Redskins are cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Chris Culliver, center Kory Lichtensteiger, wide receiver DeSean Jackson, quarterback Robert Griffin III and defensive end Frank Kearse.
