Much like the Redskins, the New Orleans Saints have done a poor job defending the run this season.
Entering Sunday’s game at FedEx Field, the Saints (4-5) rank 25th in rushing defense, allowing opponents 122.6 yards per game. The Redskins are even worse, just 29th against the run, allowing 132.5 yards per game.
If there’s a silver lining here, Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones hopes that Sunday marks the day that Washington gets its running game back on track.
Billed as the strength and identity of the squad as the 2015 season opened, the Redskins’ rushing attack has plunged from the league’s most potent to among its least feared.
