ASHBURN, Va., -- The Washington Redskins will get a lot of chances to see what their young running backs can do against better competition Friday. Not only will Matt Jones rest with a sprained shoulder, but it’s likely that Chris Thompson will rest as well.
That means undrafted free agent Rob Kelley and seventh-round pick Keith Marshall will receive a big opportunity to prove they’re worthy of a roster spot.
There’s a chance the Redskins will only keep three running backs so these two could be fighting for one spot. The Redskins could still add a veteran after final cuts are made or once the season begins.
