The Washington Redskins have been struggling to get consistency at right tackle for a while now. They went through three players at that position last season in Tyler Polumbus, Tom Compton and Morgan Moses but each struggled.
So this offseason they had to do something to try to solidify the spot so they can get better production in pass protection and run blocking. The Redskins chose to take Brandon Scherff with the fifth pick in the draft and he should be a starter early in his career.
Although it is expected that Brandon Scherff will begin his career as the starting right tackle for the Washington Redskins and was a top five draft pick, I don’t think it’s expected that he will be an all-pro caliber player like Trent Williams right off the bat.
