At the time of the NFL Draft, reactions were somewhat magnified. When the Redskins selected Daron Payne with the No. 13 overall pick, the fan base was split. Half of the fans were ecstatic, rejoicing at the newfound help on the defensive line. Others (including yours truly) were reeling. The Redskins passed on talented players such as Tremaine Edmunds and Derwin James to pick a relatively unproven player.
In the days following the Daron Payne pick, Washington alleviated any concerns about their draft that were cultivated on the first day. On Day 2, the Redskins managed to gain a third-round pick and first-round talent Derrius Guice, while also adding depth at tackle with Geron Christian.
