The Washington Redskins removed owner George Preston Marshall from the team’s Ring of Fame, a team spokesman confirmed.
The removal is the latest in a series of events the Redskins have used to dissociate with Marshall, a segregationist who was the last NFL owner to integrate his team.
City officials removed a statue of Marshall outside RFK Stadium on Friday and a day later, the Redskins announced they would rename “George Preston Marshall Level” at FedEx Field after Hall of Fame running back Bobby Mitchell, the team’s first black player.
