The Washington Redskins have cut veteran Adam Hayward after two seasons troubled often by injuries. He’s been in the league for nine years, primarily as a special teams standout.
Signing with the ‘Skins a couple years ago, Hayward was expected to be the team’s new special teams ace/captain. While STs may have improved marginally, it wasn’t due much to Hayward’s play as he missed a majority of that first season with a broken tibia. Last year he tore his ACL in preseason and didn’t play a regular season down for the Redskins.
Hayward was going to have a tough time making the team anyway after the ‘Skins brought in another STs standout ILB in Terrance Garvin and drafted Stephen Daniels.
