The Washington Redskins released 2018 seventh-round cornerback Greg Stroman and tight end J.P. Holtz on Tuesday and signed two players to replace them.
Stroman, who started three games last season, was released with an injury designation. The Virginia Tech product played two defensive snaps and 18 special teams snaps in Sunday’s loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Holtz, meanwhile, was promoted to the active roster over the weekend with tight end Jordan Reed out with a concussion. While Holtz’s release may seem like a good sign for Reed’s status in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN reported Holtz suffered a groin injury.
