In what was a widely expected move, the Washington Redskins activated former starting center Kory Lichtensteiger off of the injured reserve Saturday afternoon. The team had designated Lichtensteiger as their player to return earlier in the week, and with Spencer Long battling a concussion, it was widely assumed that Lichtensteiger would be back to provide depth.
However, what was unknown was the corresponding roster move that would take place once Lichtensteiger was officially activated. That question was answered when they elected to part ways with defensive tackle A.J. Francis. The move should not be a surprise, considering the overall state of the team.
