The Washington Redskins made a move that has been anticipated for months, releasing receiver Andre Roberts, a source confirmed.
The move was expected even before Washington drafted Josh Doctson in the first round of the draft last month -- considering what he was making and the backup role he had assumed. Roberts was victimized by poor production and the addition of other wideouts as well.
The move saves Washington $4 million with an expected post-June 1 designation. Roberts’ base salary for this season was $5 million, a hefty sum for a player who likely would have been a No.
