The Washington Redskins knew they were getting a punter with a strong leg in August 2014. Turns out they picked up a punter who will now be here for a while.
The Redskins announced a five-year extension for punter Tress Way on Saturday, continuing their desire to reward their own when possible.
The Redskins signed Way during training camp of 2014; he came here with a reputation for inconsistency in other camps. That hasn’t been the case in Washington.
In 2014, Way led the NFL in punting with a 47.5-yard average, including a net of 40.
