Redskins RB Matt Jones suffers shoulder injury in win over Jets

LANDOVER, Md., -- The Washington Redskins gave a number of their starters the night off Friday as healthy scratches. But another starter departed in the wrong way: with an injury. Running back Matt Jones left the 22-18 preseason victory over the New York Jets in the first quarter with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. It’s not what the Redskins needed to see from their starting back, and even if Jones returns in a week or two, it’s a reminder of his past durability issues.

Jones dealt with knee issues in college and suffered a hip pointer last season that sidelined him for the final four games, including the playoff loss to Green Bay.
