The Washington Redskins‘ quarterback woes unexpectedly continued in devastating fashion last year, starting when Alex Smith suffered a season-ending, and potentially career-ending, injury against the Houston Texans.
After Smith left the fold, the Redskins carried on with long-time backup Colt McCoy for a short time. It wasn’t long before McCoy himself suffered a similar injury to Smith’s. The Redskins finished the remainder of the season with Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson, while McCoy healed, sitting out the latter half.
It was at first theorized that McCoy would be healthy by season’s end, but that assumption has been proven to be very incorrect.
