The Redskins announced on Monday that they’ve released tight end Anthony McCoy and promoted Je’Ron Hamm from the practice squad.
McCoy signed as the team’s third tight end right before the season because of season-ending injuries to Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen during the preseason. He was only active for two games, however, in his first year back from tearing his right Achilles’ tendon in May of 2013 and then his left Achilles’ tendon in June of 2014.
Hamm, who was one of the team’s final cuts out of training camp, has spent the entire season on practice squad and will serve as the team’s third tight end.
