Redskins place Stephen Paea on IR, pick up RB Pierre Thomas

With third-down back Chris Thompson ailing from a torn labrum in one of his shoulders, the Redskins have signed ninth-year veteran Pierre Thomas, the team announced Friday morning. In a corresponding roster move, Washington placed defensive end Stephen Paea on injured reserve with a Grade 2 toe sprain.

Thomas, who until this season spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints, appeared in one game for the San Francisco 49ers this season. He recorded four carries for 12 yards in that Week 9 game against Atlanta. For his career, Thomas, who turns 31 next week, has averaged 4.
