This is not the time of year when NFL teams make big splashes. This is when teams patch holes.
The Washington Redskins, for instance, signed defensive tackle Phil Taylor, the team announced Tuesday. Taylor doesn’t have the name value of the sought-after Johnathan Hankins, though he could help the Redskins’ defensive line.
The defensive tackle will rejoin the Redskins on a one-year deal, and will attempt another NFL comeback.
Taylor hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2014, but was on the cusp of making the Redskins’ roster before suffering a season-ending quad injury last preseason.
