The 2015 season began with a lot of controversy for the Washington Redskins at the quarterback position. Robert Griffin III was supposed to be the starting quarterback at the start of the season. The Redskins had picked up his fifth year option which was to pay him $16 million for 2016.
However the season didn’t go as planned for RGIII. He suffered a concussion and preseason against the Detroit lions and he was never cleared from the concussion protocol quick enough in order to begin the season as the starter. So head coach Jay Gruden named Kirk Cousins as the starting quarterback.
