After the 2014 season the thought of Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden being coach of the year in 2015 was inconceivable. Even at the start of this season it seemed as though Gruden was on the hot seat and another poor season might have culminated with Gruden being out of a job.
But when things seemed to be at their worst, Gruden made arguably the most ballsy decision of his coaching career. He made the decision to bench quarterback Robert Griffin III and to name Kirk Cousins as his starting quarterback for the 2015 season.
