Matt Jones’s promise seemed boundless midway through Redskins training camp, when the 6-foot-2, 231-pound rookie running back flattened a Houston Texans defender with such fury that it touched off three brawls on two fields, halting the teams’ scrimmage.
Then came Jones’s first fumble in Week 2, which was overshadowed by the 123 yards he rolled up in the Redskins’ 24-10 victory over the St. Louis Rams.
