Redskins have cap room to absorb extensions, veteran signings

The Washington Redskins have enough salary-cap room to make more moves this offseason, whether it’s adding a veteran player or signing another contract extension. That’s thanks in part to the release of veteran cornerback Chris Culliver, whose contract came off the books when June began.

Losing his $8 million base salary now gives the Redskins about $11 million of available space. That puts them in the top 20 of NFL teams when it comes to current cap space. They have the ability to create more, though there’s not an immediate need to do so.
