After placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Washington Redskins have been fiscally responsible so far during free agency. That was evident once again over the weekend when it signed punter Tress Way to a five-year, $7.8 million extension. Way received $2.35 million guaranteed, including a $1.25 million signing bonus.
Way’s contract has a fully guaranteed base salary of $600,000 in 2016 and his 2017 base salary of $1.1 million is fully guaranteed for injury only. During the final four years of the deal, Way can earn up to $150,000 in roster bonuses and up to $400,000 in incentives each year.
