First Quarter: Redskins 7, Eagles, 0
While the Redskins won the opening coin toss, they elected to defer until the second half, giving the defense an opportunity to start out the game on the field.
The Redskins started out the game with a sack, as safety Will Blackmon – who was up at the line of scrimmage – took down rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. The Eagles were called for holding on the play, as Ryan Kerrigan was being held throughout the play, but Washington declined the call.
The Eagles would then gain some traction on the ground on second and third downs to get a new set, but Washington quickly get the offense off the field just three plays later.
