Some say that having a tight end who can block is irrelevant in today’s NFL. That since the passing game has become the dominant aspect of offense in the league that the only thing tight ends need to do well is to be a good receiver.
Well I beg to differ. I still think it’s important to have a tight end who can be an effective run blocker as well as a receiver and to help offensive tackles double team the good pass rushers. The Washington Redskins have two good receiving tight ends but their blocking leaves a lot to be desired.
