The Washington Redskins selected Martrell Spaight with the 141st pick in the fifth round of NFL Draft 2015. Spaight played outside linebacker in college but with the Redskins he will play inside linebacker in their 3-4 defense.
The Redskins didn’t have a huge need at inside linebacker but I can’t blame them for wanting to add depth. Keenan Robinson did well in his first season as a starter and Perry Riley is solid at the other ILB spot.
Will Montgomery filled in for Riley when he missed some time due to injury and showed some potential. However, Spaight brings something to the table that other than Robinson the Redskins lack at the position and that’s extreme hard-hitting.
