Redskins' defense shutting teams down in second half

ASHBURN, Va., -- The numbers have changed and the Washington Redskins have struggled a little bit to explain why. Perhaps because they know there hasn’t been a magic formula. They’re playing tighter in coverage and they’re tackling better. Lately, that has been enough to improve a defense that had been bad in the first four games.

“That’s what football is about,” Redskins safety Will Blackmon said. “It’s about blocking on offense, tackling on defense, being disciplined and being sound.”

Which the Redskins have been doing. It has been more noticeable in the second half of games lately.
