The Giants made one of the more surprising picks of the 2019 NFL Draft at the No. 6 spot. With a handful of top-notch defensive players still on the board, general manager Dave Gettleman elected to take Duke quarterback Daniel Jones as the potential successor to Eli Manning.
Jones was viewed as a reach by some who have been adamant that Jones would be on the board with the Giants’ second pick in the first round at No. 17 overall. However, Gettleman seemingly thinks that a team like the Denver Broncos or the Washington Redskins would have considered grabbing him with their respective first-round picks.
