Redskins add quarterback with McCoy hurting

ASHBURN — The Redskins signed quarterback Connor Jessop on Sunday as backup Colt McCoy is dealing with a hand injury.

McCoy, 32, was injured during Friday’s 29-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. He did not practice Sunday.

Jessop, a 24-year-old rookie out of Shepherd, provides the Redskins with an extra arm throughout the week as they prepare for Thursday’s‘ game against the Baltimore Ravens. Third-string quarterback Kevin Hogan is expected to receive the majority of snaps in Baltimore, given starters and key backups hardly play in the last game of the preseason.

Coach Jay Gruden said McCoy’s injury will likely keep him out against Baltimore.
