After moving back 26 spots in the third round – and receiving an additional three selections in the process – the Washington Redskins drafted Florida running back Matt Jones 95th overall on Friday night.
Jones, a 6-foot-2, 232-pound junior, last season played in 11 games, rushing for 817 yards (4.92 yards per carry) and six touchdowns. Described as a physical, downhill runner, Jones also contributed on special teams. However, he has struggled with durability and twice has had the meniscus in his left knee surgically repaired.
Washington officials hoped to add a running back in the draft to improve the depth at that position.
