When the Washington Redskins traded back in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft and managed to grab LSU running back Derrius Guice, it was viewed as a draft-day steal. Guice was viewed as a first-round talent at running back by some, and it was assumed that he would immediately infuse the offense with talent and excitement.
Two years later, Guice’s NFL career hasn’t gone as planned. Guice missed his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL suffered in the first week of preseason, against the New England Patriots. He was active for the team’s 2019 season debut, but only logged 18 yards on ten carries before sustaining another injury that would render him inactive for eight more games.
