LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have acquired center Lucas Crowley from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for cornerback Dashaun Phillips.
Crowley (6-3, 290) initially entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Arizona Cardinals on May 2, 2017. The rookie later signed with the Steelers on Aug. 8 after being waived by the Cardinals on July 22.
Crowley played collegiately at North Carolina, where he appeared in 41 career contests. He started every game of the 2015-16 seasons, earning All-ACC honors in both campaigns. Last year, he received second-team All-ACC honors after starting all 13 games and helping the Tar Heels to 293.
